Claire originally began with us as a summer student in 2018. Last year we extended her position to stay on part-time while she continued her studies. She has returned as full time for the summer and plans to continue part-time through the coming school year. Claire has one more year to complete her Bachelor of Arts degree in Geography and Global Studies. The focus of this major has been sustainability, urban planning and climate change – which is very broad. Her time and experience at Green Reason has helped Claire decide what she’s really interested in: the built environment. She intends to pursue a Masters degree in sustainable development and is particularly interested in the policy side of things.
Claire’s main drive is to contribute to a city in a positive way, and the best way she sees to do that is through sustainable building. She grew up in Toronto and loves the city, so it will likely be her city of focus.
At Green Reason, Claire assists on projects in a variety of ways, such as writing LEED documentation. She recently got her Fitwel Ambassador accreditation, which adds the lens of better building environments to all of her tasks. She is applying her knowledge by figuring out how Fitwell programs may fit in with client buildings and projects practically, and learning what clients are willing to do.
Outside of her professional and academic interests, Claire is a very outdoorsy person. She grew up going to a cottage where she is very active, including racing sailboats and even teaching sailing. She also loves music and attends every live show she can.
